The Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation, established in 1949, is a research center focused on the history of social movements and ideas, with the aim of promoting sustainable transformation processes. From October 17th to 19th, the Foundation is hosting the Transition Days 2024, an event focused on the theme of a just transition. The Change-makers Lab workshop is one of the key moments, bringing together experts and practitioners to explore new economic and social perspectives.
Workshop Focus
The Change-makers Lab has been divided into three thematic areas:

  • Understanding the Transition - #Knowledge: This focus aims to explore how to think about and understand the transition, emphasizing the skills needed to face future changes.
  • Making the Transition - #Innovation: Innovative solutions that can foster ecological, social, and economic transitions are discussed, highlighting the crucial role of technological innovation.
  • Supporting the Transition - #Finance: Sustainable finance is explored as a tool to fund the transition, with particular attention to new regulations.
How did Regg3 participate?
On October 17th, Regg3 participated with its Founder, Gigio Moratti, who attended the workshop focused on changing corporate mindsets and cultures toward integrating sustainability in companies. He also served as a keynote speaker in the closing panel on the transition to sustainable business models.

Regg3's contributions centered on the evolution of the concept and practices of sustainability in the business world, emphasizing how we have moved from a "Green" phase, where sustainability was mainly about communication, through the current phase of compliance, and are now entering the "Regeneration" phase, where sustainability is seen as a market opportunity based on the increasing integration of socio-environmental evaluations into business strategy.

Our intervention highlighted how this shift has been made possible by the growing availability of socio-environmental data and the extraordinary evolution of systemic impact analysis frameworks, which serve as indicators of value creation and destruction.

With the aim of increasingly leveraging socio-environmental impact data to understand value creation opportunities, Regg3 proposed a model that incorporates socio-environmental values as integral parts of corporate financial statements.

This approach aligns with the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which seeks to integrate socio-environmental impact directly into corporate performance. The goal is to view impact not merely as an external communication or compliance tool, but as a foundational element of corporate value, certifying and enhancing it in response to an increasingly quantifiable market demand.
Key lessons from Transition Days
The workshop provided important insights into how ecological transition requires a mindset shift at all levels. It emphasized the concept that, to achieve a successful transition, it is necessary to integrate multidisciplinary knowledge, promote innovation, and make the best use of sustainable finance. The model proposed by Regg3 highlighted how integrating biophysical and social indicators related to local contexts into corporate financial statements is essential to making sustainability a market opportunity and guiding us toward a more just and regenerative future.
