On November 21, 2024, the Riccardo Catella Foundation in Milan hosted an event organized by Amref to launch the “EmpowHer Fund”, an innovative platform aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and tackling gender inequality. The initiative focuses on Sub-Saharan Africa, the region with the widest gender gap globally. Additionally, it serves as a tangible tool for individuals and businesses to invest funds and drive meaningful impact.
EmpowHer: The Pillars of Change
The “EmpowHer” project is built around four key pillars:
  • Women’s Health: ensuring access to essential medical care.
  • Climate Change: engaging women in sustainable resource management.
  • Education and Training: breaking down barriers that limit girls’ access to education.
  • Access to Clean Water: reducing the distances to water sources.
Amref for Women
The event featured influential women from the social and business worlds who shared their experiences. Among the speakers were Kelly Catella from the Catella Foundation, Lara Ponti (Vice President of Ponti S.p.A.), Maria Teresa Minotti (Country Director at PayPal), Beatrice Belleggia (CEO of Pianegonda), and Nicoletta Luppi (CEO of MSD Italia).

One of the standout contributions came from Nice Leng’ete, Amref ambassador, who spoke about her fight against female genital mutilation and highlighted the crucial role of engaging local communities. Paola Crestani, President of Amref Italy, emphasized the organization’s significant impact, having reached over 38 million people in 35 African countries through initiatives in healthcare, education, and access to clean water.
The Roots of Inequality
Gender inequalities, deeply rooted in patriarchal structures, require strong alliances with local communities and the active involvement of men to drive lasting change. Maria Elena Viola, editor-in-chief of Donna Moderna, stressed the critical role of media in raising public awareness and amplifying these stories.
Collaborations and Ambitious Goals
The “EmpowHer” project benefits from strategic partnerships with companies like PayPal, Ponti, and Pianegonda, aiming to achieve gender equality and universal education by 2030. The message shared by participants was clear and powerful: "Let’s leave the world a little better than we found it."

At Regg3, we wholeheartedly share this vision.
We’re committed to collaborating with organizations like Amref that are dedicated to building a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Together, we can make a difference.
