Community Gathering: would you buy it?
Let's turn words into tangible actions for lasting change
Source: Regg3

To test our model's ability to meet the diverse needs of various organizations and gather feedback for optimization, we organized a gathering with Fondazione Feltrinelli, one of Europe’s leading socio-political research centers, and Dondup, a fashion company renowned for its innovation and quality.

Participants engaged in a role-playing game to simulate the core elements of the Regg3 model:
  • “Threshold” represented sustainability limits;
  • “Local context” illustrated the current situation in the Italian territory;
  • “Target” expressed the needs of the participating organizations.
Through this interactive approach, abstract data and concepts were transformed into concrete, understandable actions, embodied by the participants.
Fondazione Feltrinelli and Access to Education
For Fondazione Feltrinelli, the Education indicator guided a simulation on improving access to education in Italy.
  • Threshold: enrollment of young people aged 14 to 19 in high school should reach 95%.
  • Italian context: the current high school enrollment rate is 95.4%, but with a dropout rate of 5.4% (OECD).
  • Target: the foundation analyzed how to close educational gaps, focusing not on access but on ensuring students complete their studies to reduce dropout rates.
The simulation highlighted the importance of completing high school to develop the cognitive and behavioral skills needed to thrive in society. On one hand, tools like artificial intelligence integrated into traditional high school curricula could serve as strategic levers to prepare young people for future professions. On the other, introducing functional literacy seminars could foster critical thinking, enabling students to better understand the political and economic environment in which they live.
Dondup and the Material Footprint
For Dondup, the Material Footprint indicator was applied to explore strategies for reducing the footprint of the textiles used in its supply chain.
  • Threshold: 8 tons per capita is the sustainable limit for materials extracted from the Earth (biomass, fossil fuels, metallic and non-metallic minerals) for all products and services we use, such as clothing, smartphones, cars, and food.
  • Italian context: The average Italian citizen uses 16.2 tons per year.
  • Target: Dondup evaluated actions to reduce the environmental impact linked to resource consumption.
This scenario underscored the urgent need for circular production models in the fashion industry to minimize the reliance on virgin materials like cotton.
The Time Traveler: a creative contribution
Jacopo from Dusty Eye played the role of the "Time Traveler", adding a creative and reflective dimension to the gathering. This wildcard character encouraged participants to consider the long-term impact of their decisions, highlighting the tension between immediate managerial priorities and the need for regenerative strategies to drive lasting change.
A concrete dialogue for our model
The gathering provided a unique opportunity to test our model and answer the initial question of whether or not to buy into our approach to impact. The response from the players was encouraging: on the one hand, it gave us a cue to improve our business proposition, and on the other, the opportunity to apply the model in a larger project within the organization.
