Regg3 e Ogyre: on a mission to clean the Ocean
From the Plastic Crisis to Generating Systemic Impact

3 Environmental Impact Areas
6 Social Impact Areas
3 Territories Analyzed
We’re thrilled to announce our collaboration with Ogyre, a significant step in our commitment to go beyond sustainability and move toward regeneration. Together, we measured Ogyre’s impact by integrating environmental and social variables. Three environmental impact areas were selected—GHG emissions, Material Footprint, and Ecological Footprint—along with six social impact areas: Nutrition, Social Support, Employment, Equality, Income, and Life Satisfaction. The analysis was conducted in Indonesia, Brazil, and Italy using a context-based measurement approach, which emphasizes the specific characteristics of each territory where the business operates.
Ogyre’s Challenge
Ogyre tackles pressing issues such as marine pollution, overfishing, and the crisis facing small fishing communities—phenomena that threaten the health of our oceans, their ecosystems, and the communities that depend on them. In this context, the need for effective solutions has never been more urgent. Ogyre’s mission is to combat marine pollution by transforming ocean waste from a threat into a resource.

Their strategy is to connect people with the sea. Ogyre involves local fishing communities in waste collection, integrating this activity into their daily fishing practices. A core component of their business is a blockchain platform that tracks the collection, sorting, and recycling processes. This system provides real-time updates, enabling stakeholders to monitor the impact of their contributions step by step.

Ogyre fosters awareness and collective responsibility through concrete and transformative action for the health of our oceans.
How Regg3 supports change with Ogyre
In this project, Regg3 partnered with Ogyre to measure the regenerative value of their operations. During our initial analysis, we identified encouraging results and some areas for improvement, particularly in data collection, which is crucial to fully enhance the value of their initiatives. Our approach included several operational phases:

  • Defining Impact Areas: We selected nine impact areas to analyze the dynamics of both the business and the territories.
  • Data Collection: We gathered information from Ogyre’s databases and local contexts to calculate the regenerative gap between sustainability thresholds and the current situation.
  • Data Analysis: Using the Regg3 model, we standardized the data and revealed a particularly positive impact on environmental variables such as Material Footprint and Ecological Footprint. Through recycling and waste collection, Ogyre not only reduces the need to extract new raw materials but also helps restore the oceans’ regenerative capacity.
The initial results have been promising. The next step is to enable Ogyre to access impact certifications, which will highlight the socio-environmental effects of their activities. The goal is to translate their commitment into tangible value, making it accessible and recognizable to a broader audience.
The Value of Collaboration
The partnership between Regg3 and Ogyre is a tangible example of how innovation and joint efforts can generate and amplify lasting positive impacts on the environment and society. By integrating a wide range of environmental and social impact areas, we are able to showcase a success story that goes beyond mere sustainability. Together, we’re creating a systemic impact that regenerates ecosystems and communities alike.
